Exam Details

Understand the program requirements, documentation steps, and proctoring options before scheduling the comprehensive exam.

Exam Path at a Glance

Follow the steps below to move from prerequisites to exam registration. Review the detailed exam policies, proctoring options, and registration guidance after the checklist.

1 Complete Service Coordinator Foundations

Finish all six prerequisite Service Coordinator Foundations modules before starting the PSC modules. Open the Foundations series.

2 Complete the 12 core PSC modules

Complete the full PSC module sequence within two years of the start date of your first module. Browse the PSC bundles.

3 Sit for the comprehensive exam

Schedule and take the exam within one year of completing the last required module. A 30-day wait period applies after you finish the final module.

4 Upload required documentation

Upload your supporting materials before final review.

  • Certificate of completion of Service Coordinator Foundations modules
  • Proof of employment showing a minimum of two years of qualifying experience
  • Proof of education

5 Complete exam registration

Complete the Exam Registration process and choose whether you will test at an in-person site or with Proctorio. Additional proctoring fees are the responsibility of the candidate.


The PSC exam consists of 80 questions derived from the twelve core modules of the Professional Service Coordinator Program. A minimum score of 80% is required to be successful. Candidates may take up to two hours to complete the exam unless special accommodations are arranged in advance.

  1. Candidates may review the provided Study Tips in preparation for the exam. A study guide is not available for the exam.
  2. Candidates requesting test accommodations (e.g., additional time or screen reader) should email aging@osu.edu or call 614-293-4815 at least four weeks before the scheduled test date.  Additional fees may apply for accommodations.
  3. Test-takers will immediately receive a preliminary score after submitting the exam.  Exam results are not final until reviewed by the PSC Program Committee. 

Proctoring Options

Eligible candidates can now take the exam at either a conveniently located proctored testing site or use Proctorio, a new online proctoring tool. 

Take Exam At An In-Person Testing Site

Candidates may locate a convenient in-person proctored testing site certified by the National College Testing Association by visiting their website and then schedule the exam directly with the selected site.

An alternate and possibly more convenient option may be to take the exam at a local college or university.  Please visit their website for more information and to schedule the exam if this is the best option.

*Fees assessed by testing sites are the responsibility of the candidate. Information on refunds or other details must be obtained from the site.

Take Exam Using the Online Proctor Proctorio

Candidates can now take the exam at any location that is quiet and free of distractions, providing a laptop or desktop computer that meets the minimum system requirements is available for use.

*A fee of $50 is due at the time of exam registration. Once selected, this option is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Exam Registration

Once all requirements have been completed, candidates should indicate their readiness to take the exam by completing the Exam Registration form. The PSC committee will contact you after verifying all documentation and confirming that the modules were completed by the stated deadlines.
